Story

On October 11, 2024, Enid Speedway delivered an action-packed night of dirt late model racing, with thrilling heat races leading up to the highly anticipated Dash for Cash. Delbert Smith and Dan Smith were among the standout competitors, each securing second-place finishes in their respective heat races after starting from the fourth position.

In his heat race, Delbert Smith showcased his veteran experience, methodically working his way through the field to claim a solid runner-up finish. His ability to navigate the track’s tricky surface and capitalize on passing opportunities put him in a strong position heading into the Dash for Cash. Likewise, Dan Smith put on an impressive performance in his heat, advancing from fourth to second with clean, calculated moves. Unfortunately, despite his strong showing, mechanical issues arose following the heat race, forcing him to withdraw from the Dash for Cash before he could even take the green flag.

With Dan sidelined, Delbert carried the Smith name into the Dash for Cash and delivered a masterful drive. Starting from the second position, he wasted no time challenging for the lead, ultimately taking control of the race and holding off a hard-charging Kip Hughes. Lap after lap, Delbert maintained his composure, hitting his marks perfectly to secure the victory and the prize money. His Dash for Cash win capped off a strong night of racing, proving once again why he's a force to be reckoned with at Enid Speedway.
