Story
Feature Event: Late Model Division The Sooner Series returned to Enid Speedway on Saturday, July 5, with another night of drama and championship implications. What began as a promising evening for several front-runners quickly turned into a shake-up in both the Sooner Series and United Rebel Series points battles. Dan Smith started the night strong and was running 3rd early in the feature, showing the speed to contend once again. However, his run came to an abrupt end on lap 3 due to a mechanical failure, forcing him to retire from the race and surrender his hard-earned points lead in the process. Delbert Smith, meanwhile, drove a consistent and calculated race, finishing 5th on the night. That result was enough to propel him to the top of the Sooner Series standings. Delbert now holds a 113-point lead over Dan as the series moves deeper into the summer stretch. 1st: Delbert Smith 2nd: Dan Smith (–113 pts) The United Rebel Series championship battle also saw a major shakeup, as the current points leader suffered a mechanical failure and failed to finish. With Dan Smith also out early, it was a missed opportunity to close the gap. Jake Nightingale remains the United Rebel Series points leader, extending his advantage to 282 points over Dan Smith and 300 points over Delbert Smith. 1st: Jake Nightingale 2nd: Dan Smith (–282 pts) 3rd: Delbert Smith (–300 pts)🏁 Enid Speedway Sooner Series Recap – July 5, 2025
